Aviation: Work begins on reconstruction of Kabul airport terminal

Work has begun on the reconstruction of the terminal at Kabul International Airport, $35 million funding from Japan, officials said.

President Hamid Karzai laid the foundation stone of the project and stated his appreciation of the Japanese aid/ He said the terminal would be reconstructed in a better shape and would give a "modern touch".

Reconstruction work of the Kabul airport terminal was supposed to start in 2005 and to finish in 2007, but the project was delayed because of " technical problems".

The project is expected to be completed by 2008. Japanese company DMC won the bid for contract on the work.
