Almost 1 million Colombian children have been exploited at work, according to a report by the Colombian Social Protection Ministry.
Currently, the report said, 630,000 boys and 378,000 girls are working in Colombia. Many of the working children do not attend school, and nearly half of them work at home or with family members.
The report, which evaluates Colombia's third official plan to fight child labor, said that new policies on the issue will be included in the 2006-2010 development plan launched by the government on Thursday.
