Bilateral Relations: Iraq and Syria re-establish diplomatic ties

Syria and Iraq have re-established relations with the opening of embassies in their respective capitals after 24 years without diplomatic ties.

Syria's Assistant Foreign Affairs Minister Faruk Taha stated that the reopening of the legations is an expression of both nations desire to reinforce fraternity and cooperation.

Iraqi Foreign Affairs Minister Lubeid al Abawi declared that the ambassadors will be named soon and a delegation from the Persian Gulf country will visit Syria
