Defense: Iran calls for the elimination of weapons of mass destruction

Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki, has called for the eradication of chemical weapons and all weapons of mass destruction.

Speaking in The Hague on Wednesday, he said unilateralism, selective approaches, discrimination, and undermining international treaties will definitely weaken the credibility of international disarmament and non-proliferation treaties.

"We deeply believe that chemical weapons must absolutely not be used. The perpetrators of such crimes must not escape unpunished," he added.

Mottaki was speaking at the eleventh meeting of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
