India has won stakes in five out of eight oil and gas exploration blocks awarded by Yemen, according to official sources.
Three of the blocks went to state owned enterprise Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) and the two blocks went to Indian Oil Corporation (IndianOil) and Oil India Ltd (OIL) as consortium partners of Indonesia's MedcoEnergi which won two blocks.
Both the Indian state owned energy majors would hold 15 percent stake each while the Kuwait Energy Company will hold the remaining 25 percent stake, official sources said.
