South China's Guangzhou municipality is considering a regulation aimed at increasing job opportunities for women by outlawing "males only" restriction in job vacancies.
The bill proposed by the President of the Guangzhou Municipal Women's Federation Li Jin and other women's right advocates, said although China's regulation stipulates that some heavy-labour jobs like mining are not suitable for women, "males only" or "males preferred" restrictions have been abused by the employers.
However, Vice President of the Beijing Women's Federation Wu Changzhen said even if women apply, employers can come up with many excuses to avoid hiring them.
