International Development: Project launched to build toilets in 17 Indian slums

Aarambh, an NGO in collaboration with Water Aid India and UN Habitat have started a Project called SESI - in 17 slums of Bhopal.

The project's main objective is to declare the slums Open Defecation Free Slum. Under the project, all the 142 households of Rahul Nagar were provided with individual toilets making it the first open defecation free slum in the state.

Water Aid India have joined with the NGO for water and sanitation facilities in communities through Swadhar Project in Six Slums of Bhopal. The Pioneer, reports -

"the aim is to decrease the mortality rate of children, both the projects selected few schools for developing School Sanitation facilities. Government Middle Girls School in Bijli Nagar and Habibiya, Near railway Station are selected for the construction of Model Child Friendly Toilets".

Puts the so called neglect of Australian schools into perspective doesn't it.
