Women's Issues: Call for UAE to have female ambassadors

A female Federal National Council (FNC) member said she wants to see women ambassadors representing the UAE abroad in the future.

Alia Salem Saeed Al Suwaidi, said UAE diplomatic missions were the only area where there was no women ambassadors.

She told Gulf News, "We have women in senior posts at ministries, a woman in the Cabinet and now women in parliament, but no women ambassadors. With the greater female participation in the decision-making process with the support of the government and leadership, I hope we will soon also have women diplomats representing the UAE abroad."
