Time to fly my lovely little butterfly

Photo: Taken during the summer. I knew this photo would one day come in handy.

When I was a kid I used to love butterflies. In fact I was so fascinated by these beautiful creatures I would collect them and put them in a jar to keep. I reasoned that by doing so, they would always be mine.

I turned a blind eye to their need for freedom, ignored the fact that life outside my world was where they belonged, where they needed to be. In time I began to realise that by denying them that right, I was being unkind to something I loved.

When you love something - or someone, sometimes you to try to keep hold - to somehow hang on to what you love for as long as possible. You pretend not to see the way they look beyond the glass to a world that is theirs. A world where they will flourish and grow.

But if you truly love - you must see what you don't want to see.

So it is time for you to fly my lovely little butterfly.

Time to flourish and grow in a world that is yours.
