About responses, about me, about what I can do, about this blog

I know I have already said this in an earlier post, but many thanks to all those who have responded to the articles on Madeleine McCann. The response has taken me by surprise and the comments you see here, are just a fraction of the number of emails I have received. Literally hundreds.

Many of the emails have asked me for help in fighting Team McCann, and many have asked me to act as spokesman for groups seeking to find out the real truth behind the affair. Many have asked if they can give donations to aid the cause.

There is a limit to what I can do. I run a one-man, not-too-successful business that during lean teams brings in less than I would earn on the dole. I care for my seventy-six year old mum who has a penchant for playing video games and getting on my tits:).

I do not particularly want to become involved in any organised campaign as I know how such things usually turn out. Nor do I have the facilities to handle donations. If you would have liked to have made a donation to the "find out the truth" campaign, may I ask that you consider sending such donations to a legitimate and respected child welfare agency or charity. It may not help in this case, but it could help others.

To be honest with all those who have supported me, the best I can do is to keep digging and keep writing in the hope that it will at least kick start something or prick a few consciences.

Could I also ask a favour? Please do not send me attachments. It seems I am now in this up to my neck and I also know how the system I am up against operates. I have already received hundreds of obscene emails and threats. Yes, I have anti-virus systems in place, but they are not fool proof. In other words, and with no disrespect or offence intended to anyone, I prefer not to take chances.

Also, my ISP at the moment is experiencing problems, and everything happens at half pace. Large files and attachments slow the receipt of emails. This morning it took nearly an hour for all emails to download.

Now comes the problem of replying to everyone. Unless something major happens in this issue, I will spend tomorrow (Sunday) responding to as many posters and correspondents as I can. As most of you who are following this issue are in the UK, we are nine hours ahead of you at the moment - except in cricket, in which case we are 10 years ahead of you:)

About the blog. With all due respect and at the risk of sounding "commercial" I can not devote all the blog to Madeleine. Others who read the blog do so for other reasons and I have a duty to them as well. It also helps bring in enquiries for my business - and I need all the help I can get in that way.

However, I will continue to address this issue as often and as effectively as I can. I just hope to God that someone with more influence and more power than me, can do something.

I keep thinking of The Impossible Dream, a song we played at my dads funeral. Dad was a man battered and beaten in business by the British Establishment because he wouldn't play their game or sign the cheques they wanted him to sign. And in this issue, I again feel that we are trying to "right the unrightable wrong" and "fight the unbeatable foe".

But let's see what we can do shall we!
