Madeleine McCann's father Gerry has returned to the UK for a couple of days, where his first task was to thank British police officers who have been helping the search for his daughter.
He received a standing ovation at the annual Police Bravery Awards at the Dorchester Hotel in London, and said he and his wife Kate were now fully aware of the police's "sterling work".
