This is the little post I mentioned earlier!
I walked to the bay late this afternoon and to do so, I first have to walk to a bush track, then through what I refer to as "Magpie Alley" (a long tract of tree lined land full of magpies,) then on to Burns Bay Oval (photo) - equivalent to a playing field, park. or "rec",
It was heading towards early evening and the kiddies soccer practice had just finished. Their coach was standing alone in the middle of the field packing his bag. Up walked a young lad aged about nine - obviously under instructions from his mum.
In a very polite voice, and pronouncing the word "Mister" in a way that only children can do, he very politely told the coach, "Thank you Mister Hughes for taking the time to coach us". then walked away. The coach called after him, wishing him a good evening.
His obligation to mum had been discharged, and the young lad turned around and yelled back, "Yeah I will. You too - 'ave a good 'un hey mate"!
