The McCanns: Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends

So first we had the "Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends" razzmatazz of the photo that could be Madeleine. The Daily Express had the mob chomping at the bit with their lurid and racist description of a frightened girl with a gang of Moroccans - guaranteed to firmly plant a very negative perception in the minds of the terminally gullible and malleable, who turn to the purveyors of deliberately misleading stories and headlines for their daily fix of sensationalism.

The spotlight is turned off the two official suspects in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann - the parents who left their children alone every night as they wined and dined in bars around the Algarve. Headlines carried the news that the grieving parents had been given new hope.

Roll up, roll up, and give your sympathy to the McCanns - after all, according to Clarence Mitchell, the parents are the real victims of a heinous crime - not a little girl less than a yard of ale in height. The McCanns fear losing their reputation - a fate worse than death as far as two medicos with undistinguished careers are concerned.

But then the drums and trumpets fade away, and a new tune is played.

"McCanns cautious about photo" "Caution call on 'Madeleine' photo" "Experts cautious over 'Madeleine' photograph".

The real show slowly becomes visible. The crowd sigh, shrug their shoulders and leave. They are used to it.

Expectation - caution - let down.

A three-stage distraction from the main issue - with the added benefit of giving false credibility to an awareness campaign that has achieved nothing except place over a million pounds under the control of a rag-tag army of friends, colleagues and relations of the two suspects.

Once more Team McCann have betrayed Madeleine, using the little girl as a tool for their own agenda. Once more they have betrayed the public and given false hope to those who desperately want the little mite to be alive - even though in their heart of hearts, they know the chances are slim.

Another innocent family is inconvenienced because two selfish parents put their lust for the high life above the life of their daughter.

And the show moves on to the next stage, the next conveniently timed sighting by witnesses who are off course, certain of what they have seen.

I too am certain of what I have seen. I have seen the wolves of Injustice, Betrayal, Hypocrisy and Selfishness dressed in sheep's clothing, parading in a three-ring circus.

A show not put on for the children, but for the benefit of the performers.
