Bilateral trade: Vietnam and Uruguay sign economic agreement

Vietnam and Uruguay have signed an agreement to boost economic cooperation during the first-ever visit to the Southeast Asian country by an Uruguayan president.

Uruguay's President Tabare Vazquez and his Vietnamese counterpart, Nguyen Minh Triet, also witnessed the signing of an agreement to exempt visas for holders of diplomatic and official passports.

The visit will help promote bilateral relations, Triet told reporters after meeting with Vazquez.

Bilateral trade between the two countries stood at $20 million last year.
