Do you remember the other night how I drooled over a Jaguar XK convertible? The mystery has been solved in a most charming way.
Yesterday I saw it again, parked outside a block of apartments opposite me. Out of the building came a man in his late sixties or early seventies, wearing a pair of shorts and a T shirt. With him was a young lad, aged about nine. The boy saw the car and not surprisingly let out a loud, "WOW!" The man, who I assume to be his granddad or great-granddad, led him proudly to the car.
Once the boy was seated and safely strapped in, the owner then spent time showing him how everything worked. The boot went up and down and the retractable roof went back and forth.
The driver then plonked a sporty looking cap on the boy's head, then one on his own. Together they drove off - very slowly!
I may be wrong, but I had the impression that the owner had wanted a Jaguar all his life, and now he was retired, his superannuation went towards his dream.
He reminded me a bit of an advert shown here on TV. A small boy watches his dad watering the garden and realises the water helps things grow bigger. The next thing the viewer sees, is the lad digging a small hole in the garden and burying his little toy car. You know what's coming next don't you! Yep, he starts watering his newly planted Dinky toy while eyeing his dad's 4WD.
Till tomorrow...
...wherever you may be - be safe
