Bilateral Relations: Turkey and Greece discuss 'confidence building' measures

Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan is visiting Greece for what he describes as, "confidence-building measures" between the two former enemies.

Turkey and Greece already have 19 confidence-building measures in place, he added.

Anatolia News Agency reports, Turkey and Greece remain at odds over Cyprus and the extent of each other's territory in the Aegean and the airspace above it. The rivalry has triggered several tense standoffs in the past decade, in addition to routine mock dogfights, including one that led to the death of a Greek pilot.

During his visit Babacan will hold talks with Greek Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis, President Karolos Papoulias and his Greek counterpart, Dora Bakoyannis.
