Goodnight from Sydney: A bride groom who put his foot down

Photo: Taken yesterday afternoon after a car tried to take a bend a bit too quickly.

I am by no means an expert on marriage, but I reckon a pair of Sydney newly weds chose an odd way to start a life of wedded bliss. They had their car seized on the way home from church following a street racing incident in a Sydney suburb.

Police allege their hire car reached speeds of up to 130km/h at 9pm yesterday, while racing a white Holden Commodore. A 42-year-old Bankstown man, who was driving the hire car, and a 17-year-old male youth, who was behind the wheel of the Commodore, have been charged with taking part in a race between vehicles, driving in a dangerous manner and exceeding the speed limit by over 45km/h. Both vehicles were confiscated. Local TV news had touchy-feely footage of the blushing bride waking along the dark street in her snowy white wedding dress.

I wonder why two newly weds were in such a hurry!

Wherever you may be - be safe!
