Tourism: Zimbabwe tourism jumps 55%

Zimbabwe state media reports that tourism has increased by 55%, this year - mostly due to the popularity of safari hunts. Over 1.1mn visitors to Zimbabwe in the first six months of the year came from Africa.

The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) pursues a policy of perception management to combat what it claims is negative Western propaganda.
As part of the policy, groups of journalists and travel agents from European and Asian countries are brought in on state-sponsored publicity tours.
