Bilateral Relations: Poland supports Croatia EU membership

Polish President Lech Kaczynski, has told a press conference that his country supports Croatia's joining the EU in 2009.

Speaking in Zagreb after a meeting with his Croatian counterpart Stipe Mesic, he said Poland is interested in further EU enlargement so it is ready to support the first possible date, that is 2009.

He supported Croatia membership of NATO and that he would like Zagreb to be invited to the alliance at its summit in Bucharest in April.
