Sri Lanka: Government claim LTTE suffers heavy losses

Advancing troops inflicted heavy losses to fleeing terrorists in multi-pronged attacks at Wanni fronts yesterday (January 05) killing at least ten terrorists, security sources said.

According to military reports, troops launched strikes into non-liberated areas of Pullikeyarkulama, Kallikulama, and Kutichchankulama during the morning hours in separate fronts. Ten LTTE terrorists were killed during the confrontations, sources said.

Meanwhile, military said, a soldier sustained injuries and admitted to general hospital at Vavuniya.

Separately, troops said, three terrorists were wounded yesterday during exchange of artillery fire at FDLs in Kokkattoduval, Welioya.
