United Arab Emirates will soon allow women to become judges. Local media reports that the Judicial Institute is training women so they may become judges and prosecutors once the current "male only" law is amended.
The proposed law, would make the UAE the second Gulf country after Bahrain to allow female judges.
Not everyone however, is happy. Sheikh Abdulmuhsin Al-Ubaikan, a member of the Saudi Scholars Commission, said that male judges face many pressures and ask to be relieved of duties adding, "Women should be relieved of such a burden out of mercy."
