Agriculture: Chavez to grab more land

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has announced that more land will be taken over by the state as part of the country's agricultural revolution.

Using his weekly show "Alo Presidente" Chavez said that more than 1 million acres of land had been recovered by the state in Apure alone.

So far, around 2 million hectares have been nationalized across the country, but large landowners remain in control of another six million hectares, Chavez said, citing this as one of the factors that has contributed to Venezuela's food shortages
