Corruption: $100 per month gas worker pockets $145m in bribes

In one of Bangladesh's biggest corruption scandals, an employee of the country's biggest state-owned gas company has been accused of $145m in bribes over a 12 year period.

Abdul Kader Mollah, a former sales assistant with the Titas Gas Distribution Co, allegedly undercharged thousands of factories. The gas worker was ‘feared by everyone’ and enjoyed high connections.

Mollah who was on a wage of $100 per month, has taken out a quarter-page advertisement in at least 11 top newspapers to proclaim his innocence.
