Australia's Woodside Energy Ltd is expected to sign a twenty-year natural-gas purchase contract with Taiwan's Chinese Petroleum Corp (CPC).
The deal valued at around US$47.6 billion is due to be signed on Friday.
According to the Taipei Times, both CPC and Taiwan's Economics Ministry refused to confirm the deal for fear of sabotage from China, which sees Taiwan as its breakaway province and bars foreign countries from launching ties with Taiwan.
