Bosnia and Herzegovina: Police reforms clear major hurdle to EU membership

Bosnia's parliament took a crucial step towards signing its first pre-membership pact with the European Union, by adopting police reform legislation.

The reforms aimed at creating a more effective, ethnically united police force, had been debated for four years and must be passed for Bosnia to sign the Stabilization and Association Agreement with the 27-nation bloc.
