Tens of thousands of Croatians gathered in the capital Zagreb to demand higher wages in the face of soaring inflation. The rally, organised by trade unions was the biggest protest of its kind in years.
Union leader Kresimir Sever told demonstrators the nation was divided into two castes: "A wealthy one that we could never enter and our own."
Inflation has rise from 1.2 percent a year ago to 5.8 percent in February.
