Three brothers have been jailed for 36 years for the attempted murder of Myanmar consul Khin Maung Lynn in 2004.
Sessions judge Akhtar Tahir jailed unemployed Abdul Fariyas Oo Hardi, 46, and labourers Mohd Salim Oo Hardi, 42, and Muslim Oo Hardi, 39, to serve their jail term from the date of arrest on April 7, 2004.
Akhtar sentenced the accused, who are seeking refugee status, to 18 years’ jail each for stabbing Khin, 57, with a knife and slashing him with an axe.
The judge jailed each brother to 18 years for committing mischief or destruction with the intention to destroy the Myanmar Embassy building in Jalan Ru, off Jalan Ampang Hilir here.
He ordered the jail terms to run consecutively from the day of their arrest.
