Bilateral Relations: Poland and U.S. discuss missile shield

Poland and the US have begun a new round of talks on the deployment of U.S. anti-missile shield in Poland.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said Wednesday he hoped progress would be made in the talks, according to Polish news agency PAP.

Tusk added that the recent developments in Caucasus showed the need for security guarantees which would not leave Poland with the shield only.

The prime minister stressed that permanent installation of Patriot missiles in Poland which would defend the Polish territory in case of a conflict and cooperation with the United States in security are top priority.

Russia opposes the anti-missile shield plan, claiming it is a threat to Russia's security
