North Korea: U.S. urged to apologize for massacres of civilians during Korean War

The following is republished from the Korean Central News Agency (North Korea). It is published here without alteration to content, spelling or grammar.

A spokesman for the North Side Headquarters of the Nationwide Special Committee for Probing the Truth behind the GIs' Crimes issued a statement today in which it urged the U.S. to apologize before the Korean nation and the world conscience for the thrice-cursed massacres of civilians committed during the Korean war.

Facts about more mass killings of civilians committed by the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces during the past June 25 war have been brought to light in south Korea one after another to spark off a great furor, the statement said, and went on:

The above-said massacres are the most barbarous war crimes against humanity in the world's history of wars. They clearly prove that the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces are, indeed, beasts in human skin and a group of bandits who completely disregard international law and humanitarianism.

But the U.S. is resorting to crafty moves to evade the responsibility for the massacres while covering up and justifying them, claiming that they were "accidental" though more than half a century has passed since the ceasefire.

It is also keeping its forces in south Korea and committing violence, plunder, rape and man-killings every day, bringing untold misfortune and sufferings to its people. And it is busy with the moves for provoking another war against the DPRK.

The moves for aggression on the DPRK and massacres of civilians perpetrated by it century after century are connived at and overlooked still today when the war crimes in which wars of aggression were started and innocent civilians were killed are being severely punished worldwide after becoming targets of stern judgment, not bound to the statute of limitations. This is an unpardonable insult to justice and human conscience and an intolerable violation of the dignity and sovereignty of the Korean nation.

All the Koreans in the north and the south and abroad should turn out more vigorously in the struggle to force the U.S. to pay for all the brutal killings of Koreans and put an end to its military presence in south Korea and its hostile actions against the DPRK in order to preserve the dignity and honor of the nation.
