Defense: Hungary to boost armed forces

The Hungarian parliament has approved a proposal to increase the size of the country's armed forces, Hungarian News Agency MTI reported.

The motion, to increase the armed forces by 1,000 to 24,950, was supported by 330 MPs, with only one rejection and 27 abstentions.

This was the first time that the parliament had proposed to raise the number of troops since the country's social transformation in 1989.
