Sri Lanka: 21 LTTE killed and 11 injured

Sri Lanka's Ministry of Defence, Public Security, Law & Order reports - "21 LTTE terrorists were killed and 11 others suffered injuries in confrontations took place in Mullaittivu, Kilinochchi, Vavuniya, Welioya and Jaffna fronts yesterday, 28 September. 11 more terrorists were reportedly either killed or wounded.

Troops of 57 Division operating in Mullaittivu district had confronted with LTTE terrorists in Akkarayankulam and Kokkavil areas killing 2 terrorists and injuring another. 3 soldiers laid their lives for defending the motherland while another 3 sustained injuries during these clashes.

In Kilinochchi front, six LTTE terrorists were killed in confrontations ensued between LTTE terrorists and troops of Task Force 1 in Vannerikulam area. Two soldiers made their utmost sacrifice for defending the motherland while another 12 received injuries. By intercepting LTTE communication it is learnt that 6 more LTTE terrorists had been killed and 2 suffered injuries in a clash occurred in general area Manniyakulam on 26 September.

In Vavuniya front, troops of Task Force 2 confronted with LTTE terrorists in general area Palamoddai. 4 LTTE terrorists were killed and 8 others suffered injuries in these clashes. In the same front, troops of 56 Division, gunned down 2 more LTTE terrorists in general area Vedamakilam.

In Welioya front, 2 LTTE terrorists were killed while another 11 suffered injuries due to the clashes reported in Andankulam area. 11 more terrorists reportedly either killed or wounded.

In Jaffna front, army snipers deployed in general area Muahmalai gunned down an LTTE terrorists during the daytime yesterday. Meanwhile, 2 LTTE terrorists suffered injuries while another 3 reportedly either killed or wounded in clashes reported in Ponnar and Muhamalai respectively. 8 soldiers sustained injuries in LTTE attacks in general area Ponnar, Nagarkovil and Muhamalai areas."
