Defense: US company awarded multi-million dollar arms deal for Afghan police and army

Defense Industry Daily reports that American ammunition supplier Alliant Techsystems, Inc in Independence, MO has received an $86.7 million firm-fixed-price contract for 94.6 million rounds of various nonstandard ammunition for the Afghanistan national Army and Afghanistan National Police.

ATK appears to be stepping into the market space left by a Miami company who delivered substandard ammunition and is charged with sourcing its stock illegally.
