Sri Lanka: LTTE claim 51 soldiers killed, while army reports Ramanadanpuram "liberated"

LTTE rebels claim that 51 Lankan soldiers were killed during 18 hours of fierce fighting. However, that claim is strongly denied by the Lankan army who say seven soldiers were killed and twenty rebels. The army also said that after several days of fighting they had liberated the major town of Ramanadanpuram.

The Ministry of Defence also said that at Mullaittivu, air force jets pounded the LTTE forward defence line in the south of the northern district.
