Bilateral Cooperation: Mexico, Venezuela combine to tackle youth crime through music and education

Mexico and Venezuela have signed an agreement to support music education for the young in Mexico.

"In Venezuela, 400,000 people are involved in the orchestras system in some ways," Mexican Public Education Minister Vazquez said, during a visit to Caracas, the capital of Venezuela.

"This experience deserves to be copied with bilateral cooperation agreements," Vazquez said.

Vazquez said that 40 Mexican youngsters, between 15 and 20 years old, will travel to Caracas for a visit to the Venezuelan Youth and Child Orchestras in May and June.

Vazquez said that "the promotion of music in Mexico is part of a plan to improve education and culture as a way to prevent crimes."
