Bilateral Relations: Argentina, Brazil delay dollar swap agreement

Xinhua reports Argentina and Brazil have postponed the signing of a $1.8 billion swap aimed at promoting bilateral trade amid the global financial crisis.

Exact reasons were not revealed for the delay of the signing which was rescheduled for Aug. 3.

The agreement was expected to be signed during the annual summit of the Common Market of the South (Mercosur) that was held here on Thursday and Friday.

Brazilian officers suggested delaying the signing after Argentina's new Economy Minister Amado Boudou took office a few days ago.
