Afghanistan: Elections - Hazara vote vital for Karzai

The mostly Shia Hazara community of Afghanistan is poised to have a significant effect on the country's elections. Eager to tap into the Hazara vote, Hamid Karzai, the incumbent president, recently signed off on a controversial Shia family law.

The law has sparked international criticism as limiting women's rights, but as Al Jazeera's Hashem Ahelbarra reports, Karzai is unlikely to risk losing the Hazara vote by repealing the law.
