Defense: Iraq's Serbia connection

FOCUS Information Agency - Iraq’s Defense Minister Abdul Qadir Jassim said in Belgrade after meeting his Serbian counterpart Dragan Sutanovac that the greater part of the military equipment and weapons, which Serbia sold to Iraq, has been given to the Iraqi military units, Radio Television of Vojvodina (RTV) reporter.

Qadir Jassim remarked that the Iraqi military units get “highly useful experience” with the equipment and weapons from Serbia.

Serbian military industry signed an export contract with Iraq last yea, worth USD 235 million. The contract envisages sale of infantry weapons, around 17.000 pistols, mine-throwers and huge amount of different ammunitions. In addition, Serbia will also produce military uniforms, helmets and protection equipment for Iraq.

The two ministers signed in Belgrade an agreement, which regulates the sale of weapons and military equipment, as well as training of Iraqi solders in Serbia.
