Rights of The Child: Mandela adds $160,000 to his bank account for Decade Child Rights Heroes award

Nelson Mandela and his wife have been named the winners of a global award for helping to promote children's rights over the past ten years, the Namibian Press Agency (NAMPA) reported Friday.

Mandela and Graca Machel will get about US$160,000 prize money of Decade Child Rights Heroes award.

More than 7 million children took part in the global vote.

I guess Winnie Mandela was ruled out on account of her alleged involvement in several human rights abuses, including the torture and murder of 14-year old Stompie Moeketsi
