Serbia: Serbia’s demand to become EU candidate member state could be discussed by EU in the spring

FOCUS Information Agency - Serbia’s demand to become EU candidate member state could be discussed by the Council of the European Union in the spring, said Swedish foreign minister Carl Bildt in an interview to Serbian Vecerne Novosti newspaper. In his words the European Commission could work out a position before the unblocking of the ratified Agreement for Stabilization and Association.

“During Swedish EU Presidency, in the end of the last year, Serbia has made a hug step towards the European integration just for a few days,” he noted.

“The West Balkans have made a progress and are moving faster then before. Of course, there are open issues but I think the situation us better than six months ago,” Bildt pointed.
