Serbia: Govt wants to control rights of minorities

FOCUS Information Agency - The Discrimination Protection Act faces a hurdle in the very first test in its enforcement, Serbian Blic daily writes.

The newspaper notes that the government wants to appoint a person close to them to the post of commissioner for equal rights protection instead of the expert suggested by 162 NGOs.

The non-governmental organizations suggest Goran Miletic, a prominent expert in the area and one of the authors of the act. The governing Democratic Party proposes Milutin Djuricic, an adviser to the minister of human and minority rights, the newspaper writes.
