Bilateral Relations: US-Uruguay to enhance bilateral ties

FOCUS Information Agency - Uruguay's new president Jose Mujica and visiting U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton agreed on Monday to enhance bilateral ties of the two nations, Xinhua News Agency informed.

Mujica said he and Clinton discussed various issues including a trade and investment framework agreement between the two sides.

Mujica told Clinton that he had "good will" to contribute to "easing the inevitable contradictions that history imposes on Latin America."

"We will be ready - as long as we are summoned - to contribute in the path of the peace, where the efforts are not enough," Mujica said.

Clinton arrived in Uruguay on Monday to attend the inauguration of Mujica.

"We join you to celebrate the strength of the Uruguayan democracy and the progress that has boosted here and in all the region," she said.

"We are going to continue working together," Clinton added.
