Dubai: Mum to help raise money for children's charities by running 422-km from Muscat to Dubai in baking heat

Gulf News reports a mother is aiming to help raise money for children's charities by taking part in a gruelling 422-km trek from Muscat to Dubai in the baking heat.

Jane Beere, 48, hopes to raise cash for the Jess Vietnam Project, which renovates community centres and helps special needs children, and Nyumbani Orphanage in Kenya with her epic 10-day hike. The British expat is aiming to run 42km a day.

"I've chosen these charities as they care for children. I visited Nyumbani in 1992 and was moved by their work. The JESS Vietnam Project is ongoing and students at JESS are involved in helping the children there," she said.
