Macedonia: 'Interethnic relations in Macedonia have deteriorated'

FOCUS Information Agency - The interethnic relations in Macedonia have deteriorated, the tension is high and mistrust has increased, Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM) leader Branko Crvenkovski said on Sunday, cited by Macedonian Dnevnik daily.

“Let’s see how the governing coalition is functioning and the tension between the partners in the government – VMRO-DPMNE and Democratic Union for Integration (DUI). This is not good.

Some of this tension is a result of objective circumstances, such as Macedonia’s blocked Euro-Atlantic integration. On the other side Albania joined NATO, Kosovo declared independence and the regional context has changed,” said Crvenkovski.
