Mexico: Growing comcern that military strategy has been counter-productive

Barack Obama, the US president, has reiterated his administration's support for Mexico's fight against drug traffickers in a phone call to its president.

Violence along the US-Mexico border has skyrocketed since Felipe Calderon, the president of Mexico, sent government troops to confront the drug cartels.

Now there is a growing feeling that the military strategy has been counter-productive.
