Trafigura: Amsterdam City Council to face prosecution

Radio Netherlands reports Amsterdam City Council is to face prosecution for its part in the Probo Koala toxic waste case. An Amsterdam court ruled the Dutch authorities could not prosecute the council, but this ruling has been overturned by the Supreme Court.

Part of the toxic cargo was initially accepted for processing by Amsterdam Port Services. However, the company eventually decided not to accept the waste and pumped it back into the ship's hold.

The ship's captain captain and the Trafigura company, are also facing prosecution.
