Kyrgyzstan: Putin pressures ousted Kyrgyz president

Radio Netherlands reports - Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has spoken on the phone with ousted Kyrgyz president Kurmanbek Bakiyev, but details of their conversation have not been released.

Moscow has been quite open about its preference for the interim government led by former foreign minister Roza Otunbayeva.

Earlier, President Dmitry Medvedev urged Mr Bakiyev to formally resign; this is the first time that Prime Minister Putin has involved himself in the situation.
