IRNA - Afghanistan’s President Hamid Karzai departed for Tehran Thursday morning to attend the fourth summit of three Persian-speaking states with counterparts from Iran and Tajikistan.
In addition to taking part in the meeting, President Karzai is also to confer with his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during his one-day stay in Iran.
The Afghan President is to meet with his Tajik counterpart President Imomali Rakhmon who is also to arrive in the Iranian capital for the trilateral summit.
President Karzai is accompanied by Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Zalmay Rassoul, National Security Advisor Rangin Dadfar Spanta and Minister of Finance Omar Zakhilwal.
