Of cultural cringe, cheap journalism and cheap internet "solutions"

Thanks to a pair of second rate political leaders, cheap journalism by alleged journalists feeding the chooks for commercial TV networks, the 2010 Australian Election campaign (pain being the operative word) has turned into the biggest cultural cringe since the infamous "blow up kangaroos on bicycles" fiasco at the closing ceremony of the 1996 Olympics.

Oh for the glory days of crafty, conniving politicians, and journalists who didn't have to resort to gutter level stunts to keep a bored, lethargic audience happy.

Oh and while we are at it, Stuff you Tony Abbott. I have wasted hours today because of Australia's crap Internet service. It's not just about Facebook, as you patronizingly told an audience member during yesterday's stacked "Town Hall" farce, it's about conducting business in the 21st century, not 1990. My century - not yours or the likes of Alston in the Howard government, who made a pig's ear of technology and communications in the first bloody place.

Believe it or not, the world has come a long way since the transistor radio.

Wherever you may be - be safe
