Kuwait: Acting Premier and Defense Minister says Kuwait must preserve national unity

Acting Premier and Defense Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah said those in Kuwait who are making statements against national unity should cease such behavior.

Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) earlier this week, Sheikh Jaber expressed concern with those who are deliberating trying to stir negative emotions in Kuwait.

"What is currently going on is not of the country's interest and would not lead to 'objectively' solve issues being discussed in media," the Acting Prime Minister said. "All must be wise, insightful and responsible for maintaining Kuwait's national unity and work hard in order to thwart any attempt to break it."

Sheikh Jaber said national unity is vital for Kuwait to be strong. The nation is on the cusp of implementing a massive Development Plan, which will add roads, bridges, airports, hospitals and assorted infrastructure improvements. The Development Plan is expected to elevate the stature of Kuwait in the Gulf and beyond.

The Acting Prime Minister said the media must not publicize and promote the attempts of those who make statements that harm Kuwait. "The Government will not falter in taking strenuous procedures against those attempting to fiddle with our national unity," Sheikh Jaber said.
