Bilateral Relations: China, Iran call for railway cooperation

Beijing, Dec 8, IRNA - Iranian Minister of Roads and Transport Hamid Behbahani in Beijing on Wednesday called for cooperation with China to expand Iranian railway networks.

In a meeting with China's Minister of Railways Liu Zhijun, Behbahani said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is willing to develop cooperation with China in construction of new railway networks.

The two ministers held talks on ways to develop cooperation in various fields.

Behbahani said that the Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes Chinese investment in railroad projects.

The Iranian minister said that establishment of the Committee for Railway Transport would play vital role to facilitate mutual cooperation in this respect.

The Iranian minister is on a visit to Beijing to attend China’s World High Speed Rail Conference.
